Melissa Bell has found love again four years after the tragic death of her second husband, Garry Dickinson.

The Australian actress, best known for her role as Lucy Robinson on Neighbours, revealed she recently got engaged to financial strategist Grant Thompson.

Speaking to New Idea, Melissa, 47, and Grant, 58, recalled all the romantic details of the proposal.

‘We went to a beautiful restaurant, Little Truffle in Queensland, and I figured let’s go through the mains before [I had a go at proposing] before the dessert,’ Grant said. 

Melissa told the publication that after losing Gary, she just went on a ‘self-discovery road’ to find out who she was. 

‘I believe what I have gone through, it’s almost like Gary is giving me back my life to move on. That’s what he would want me to do,’ she explained.

Melissa and Grant decided to move in together last year. They celebrated the occasion by getting matching infinity sign tattoos on their ankles.

Previously speaking to Woman’s Day, Melissa said their romance ‘started out as a friendship and built over time’.

She also revealed the couple met by chance at a mutual friend’s barbecue two and a half years ago.

Melissa tragically lost her second husband Gary in February 2016 after a heart attack at work left him in a coma for 93 days. 

‘Life moves on and I still want to commit to someone out there, even though I know it’s a different connection,’ she said. 

She continued: ‘I think if Gary had met Grant, they both would have got along.’

Melissa said she has evolved both emotionally and spiritually in the process of coming to terms with her loss. 

Gary was left in a coma after suffering from a heart attack on November 12, but in the months that followed Melissa had hoped that he would recover and return home to her and their children Jonathan, 20, Isabella, 16, and William 12. 

The soap star and presenter was previously married to TV producer Forrest Redlich, whom she divorced in 1998.

She and Forrest share son Dylan, 23.
