Ninja Warrior’s Ben Fordham says Rebecca Maddern stole ‘genius idea’

Australian Ninja Warrior’s Ben Fordham confesses to being ‘a bit dirty’ on co-host Rebecca Maddern after she ‘claimed’ his ‘genius idea’

In an Australian Ninja Warrior first, the current season features a brand new obstacle called ‘The Power Tower’ where contestants compete head-to-head.

And speaking to News Corp ahead of Sunday night’s premiere, Ben Fordham admitted to getting a ‘bit dirty’ on his co-host Rebecca Maddern.

The 43-year-old claimed to have come up with the ‘genius idea’ for The Power Tower, only for Rebecca to pitch the idea to producers.

Playful feud: Australian Ninja Warrior’s Ben Fordham (pictured in June), 43, confessed to being ‘a bit dirty’ on co-host Rebecca Maddern after she ‘claimed’ his ‘genius idea’, in an interview with News Corp this week

Ben explained: ‘I had this dream that the Ninjas should race head to head instead of racing individually against the clock. How good would it be to see them race side-by-side?’

‘I was telling Bec about this dream and then she pitches the idea. And it’s become this massive hit.’

Ben went on to recall how producers praised Rebecca, 42, for her ‘genius’ and ‘fantastic’ idea.

The 2GB radio host made the same claims in an interview with News.com.au earlier this week.

‘I had a dream about it (The Power Tower) and then I told people about the dream,’ he said.

‘What Rebecca has then done is she has heard that and then gone and pitched it officially to producers and they’ve run with it.’

But Rebecca has denied stealing Ben’s idea, telling Daily Mail Australia: ‘It’s typical of him to want to put his name to a winner but it’s mine.’

The Power Tower sees Ninjas compete head to head, with the winner earning the game-changing advantage of having 10 seconds taken off their semi-final time.

Rebecca was forced to miss out on a few days of filming back in March, having tested for coronavirus.

The TV star went into self-isolation after her Weekend Today colleague Richard Wilkins was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March.

Thankfully, she tested negative and was able to return to the Ninja Warrior set.
