Former Farmer Wants A Wife star Nathan McClymont SLAMS ‘trash’ Married At First Sight contestants 

Nathan McClymont met his wife Amanda on Farmer Wants A Wife a decade ago. 

But the 35-year-old reality star has slammed Married At First Sight contestants for going on the controversial dating experiment for ‘popularity’. 

Speaking to the Herald Sun on Saturday, Nathan claimed anybody who went on the ‘trash show’ was not a ‘genuine person looking for love’. 

‘When we did it [going on reality television], it was genuine, there wasn’t any social media. It wasn’t about getting publicity, it was about meeting somebody and hopefully it all worked,’ Nathan said. 

He added: ‘Back then, there was no platform to advance yourself like on the trash show MAFS. 

‘The whole format with farmers, they’re genuine people looking for love. They’re not into the social media game or out for popularity.’

Farmer Wants A Wife host Natalie Gruzlewski echoed a similar sentiment on the Morning Show on Friday.

The 43-year-old TV personality described the show as ‘wholesome’ and ‘heartwarming’, compared to other dating shows. 

‘We cast farmers from right around Australia and then we put the call up to the ladies who would like to meet them. They choose the eight ladies who would like to meet them, so there is that initial attraction,’ Natalie explained.  

She continued: ‘Everyone is there for the right reasons and it’s good old-fashioned romance and real love stories. 

‘I think the city girls love the idea of moving to the land and country life, and who doesn’t love our Aussie farmers and a good love story?’  

Farmer Wants A Wife Australia has resulted in nine marriages and 19 babies. 

Married At First Sight stars Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant are the only married couple from the show. She is currently pregnant.  

Farmer Wants A Wife premieres on Channel Seven on Sunday at 7PM.
