‘He’s ready for mum to be away for a little bit’: Sylvia Jeffreys talks about going back to work five months after giving birth to her son Oscar
Sylvia Jeffreys is going back to work at Channel Nine, five months after giving birth to her son Oscar.
And on Friday, the 34-year-old talked about her exciting return to TV next week with her Today Extra colleagues David Campbell and Belinda Russell.
She said: ‘He (Oscar) is almost six months and he’s thriving and he’s happy and chatty and giggling the house down and ready, I think, for mum to be away a little bit.’

The journalist, who shares her son with husband Sky News’ Pete Stefanovic, added: ‘I love our mornings together. He is so sweet in the morning and that’s been our time, just the two of us.’
‘I’m so fortunate to come back three days a week to begin with,’ she said of her return.
She will be returning to TV on a part-time basis as of next week, presenting Monday to Wednesday, while Belinda hosts Thursday and Friday, alongside co-host David.

Sylvia said: ‘It will be hard to leave him, but at least I will have the afternoons with him and still those Thursdays and Fridays for now.’
Sylvia and her husband Peter welcomed Oscar in February and announced the news on Instagram at the time.
Back in May Sylvia told Today Extra how she’s been finding motherhood so far.
She said on the show: ‘It’s just been the most wonderful and surprising experience.’

‘It is every emotion at its extreme and all mixed in together. It is an extreme and deep joy, it is rational anxiety.’
‘But mostly just joy and wonder, and in awe of this beautiful little boy,’ she added.
Sylvia also revealed she and Peter ‘go to bed at night and just watch videos’ of their little boy.
