‘We were all told not to touch each other,’ Chad said regarding COVID-19 measures the housemates were asked to adhere by while filming the show.

However, the network did make sure all cast, crew and guests at the event had health checks beforehand.

‘There was COVID and straight after I won, Shane [Vincent] came over and jumped on me, that’s why [there wasn’t a romantic moment with Sophie]. And in that type of moment, I didn’t know what I was doing and Sophie had gone over there,’ he said.

Chad said his win took him by surprise and was suddenly swarmed by housemates wishing to congratulate him: ‘the adrenaline is running and you don’t know what’s going on.’

‘We were all told not to touch each other, but Shane coming over was not my fault. As for the romantic part, it’s not that we’re not romantic, we were just told not to.’

The pair had early dodged host Sonia Kruger’s awkward questions about their relationship status, including whether they had ‘done it’ yet.

Chad explained they hadn’t seen each other since the show finished, in late April, likely due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

When the 27-year-old male model was crowed the winner of Big Brother 2020, his ‘girlfriend’ wasn’t exactly jumping for joy.

Chad only gave Sophie a brief kiss and a hug, and she appeared to keep her distance on stage while he enjoyed his moment of glory.
