Ninja Warrior’s Ben Fordham has accused his co-host Rebecca Maddern of stealing his idea for the new Power Tower obstacle on the show.

In an interview with News.com.au on Wednesday, the 43-year-old revealed there has been ‘friction’ between the pair after Rebecca, 42, mentioned his idea to the show’s producers.

‘This year there’s this thing called the Power Tower, I’m pretty sure it was my idea. I had a dream about it and then I told people about the dream,’he told the publication.

He continued: ‘What Rebecca has then done is she has heard that and then gone and pitched it officially to producers and they’ve run with it.’

He went on to say that the Weekend Today host has ‘claimed credit’ for the idea and ‘everyone thinks she’s a genius’.

But, Rebecca has denied claims she stole Ben’s idea and said if he did mention it to her, she ‘obviously tuned out’.

‘Ben always wants to claim good ideas as his own, but sorry buddy, this one is mine. The Power Tower is brilliant as it’s going to redefine the show and the producers are very thankful for my marvellous idea,’ she told News.com.au.

Last week, Nine finally gave fans a glimpse of the new Power Tower in a new promo for the show.

‘We’re super charging Ninja Warrior for the first time ever its ninja versus ninja… the almighty Power Tower is here,’ teases the voice.

The Power Tower appears to be a tall structure with gymnastic rings, ropes and ladders attached.

The new obstacle will pit the ninjas against one another in what is sure to be an epic display of athletic ability before they meet Mt. Midoriyama.

Incredible footage of the ninjas competing against each other on the mega structure teases the new format.

‘You have not seen anything like this before,’ adds commentator Freddie Flintoff.

Ninja Warrior Australia starts July 26 on Nine.
