MasterChef star Reece Hignell cuts a casual figure as he is spotted leaving KOI Dessert Bar

He stole MasterChef viewers’ hearts with his affable nature and mouth-watering dishes.

So it’s no surprise fans flocked to Reece Hignell’s dessert masterclass at Reynold Poernomo’s KOI Dessert Bar on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Newcastle-based star cut a casual figure when he was spotted leaving the popular eatery after hosting his sold out class.

While Reynold was nowhere to be seen, Reece appeared in good spirits dressed in a baby pink sweater, a matching hat and black trousers.

He completed his look with black sneakers and his trademark reading glasses.

During the cooking class he wore a blue-coloured apron.

The classes run for three hours and cost a whopping $350 per person.

But participants receive a $50 KOI gift card to use upon booking in.

Speaking on The Project last month, Reece said he realised why contestants were becoming so emotional after being eliminated on the show. 

 ‘I was actually thinking, why is everyone so emotional, come on, guys, it is just a competition!’ he said.

‘And I watched me get eliminated and I was nearly a wreck myself! So I think, like, we all just want it so bad. I know I wanted to win so, so badly.’ 

The vegan chef was eliminated after his starter of beetroots with hazelnut, chocolate and goat’s cheese with a lemon myrtle vinaigrette failed to impress.  

Upon his elimination, Reece looked genuinely shocked and upset, his voice breaking and on the verge of tears.
