Kate Garraway’s friend and I’m A Celebrity co-star Roman Kemp has discussed how her children are coping with their dad Derek Draper’s COVID-19 battle.
The Capital Radio host, 27, spoke out after attending and helping organise her son Billy’s 11th birthday party over the weekend, as he confessed both Billy and his sister Darcey, 14, are going through ‘a tough time’ as their dad remains in hospital.
He said: ‘It was really nice and lovely to see her and Bill and Darcey, they’re going through a tough time. They’ve got some great friends and family around them doing their bit, she’s doing incredible, she’s a superhero.’

Speaking to The Mirror, he went on: ‘I think that it’s a situation that no one can ever dream about being in but they’re getting through it and they’re doing a great job of it. All we can do is be there for her as much as possible.’
Former Blair lobbyist Derek, 52, was admitted to hospital in March after being diagnosed with coronavirus, and remains seriously ill.
After he was taken out of his coma last week, on Tuesday Kate revealed nurses told her he was ‘focused and engaged’ when they put on Good Morning Britain.
As the updates have been drip fed back to the family, Roman and Myleene threw the party in Kate’s garden on Saturday to help cheer up Billy.

Days after, Kate, 53, thanked Myleene, 42, and Roman , 27, for helping with son Billy’s 11th birthday bash as the ’emotional’ star admitted she ‘didn’t want to let him down.’
Taking to Instagram late on Saturday night, the GMB host shared a series of videos and photographs along with lengthy captions to express her gratitude as she gushed that ‘Derek will be so proud and pleased!’.
Beginning with a socially-distanced photograph of herself and Myleene standing outside the garden arrangement, Kate wrote a message of thanks alongside.

‘So I was super nervous about Bill’s birthday this year – we usually have a family do with grandparents & a few of his friends but obviously this not possible. So we are seeing grandparents separately but wanted to do something for him & his mates.
‘Derek is so brilliant at this, organising treasure hunts & boys own adventures so mentioned to @myleeneklass really didn’t want to let Bill down & did she know anyone with a tent we could borrow in case it was wet.
‘Little did I know what I was unleashing! She is in her element! At 8.30 this morning she arrived with Apollo in tow to supervise the brilliant @sleepyteepeeuk to set up the most amazing jungle camp ever!!!’
