‘My tummy has always been my problem area’: Chantelle Houghton reveals she has been repeatedly forced to deny she is pregnant… as she laughs off two stone weight gain

Chantelle Houghton revealed she has repeatedly been forced to deny she’s pregnant as she laughed off her recent weight gain.

The TV personality, 36, admitted in an interview with Closer on Wednesday that she had to clarify to the receptionist at her local hair salon that she’d ‘put on a lot of weight’ when they accidentally assumed the star was pregnant.

Explaining what transpired, she said: ‘Last week I went to the hairdressers and the receptionist looked at me and said, “Oh Chantelle, congratulations!” I giggled and said, “Don’t be embarrassed, but I’ve just put on a lot of weight!”

‘My tummy has always been my problem area; people have been coming up to me for years and asking, “When is it due?” I’ve got used to it now.’

Chantelle, who previously admitted she’d gained two stone in lockdown, went on to claim that her romance with fiancé Michael has made her realise she isn’t concerned about her weight as she’s ‘happy’.

‘When you’re in a happy relationship too, you don’t worry about what you’re eating and you do gain weight,’ she explained.

The pair became engaged in April after a three-month whirlwind romance but they have been friends for nine years.

It comes after Chantelle shared a picture of herself on a fishing trip earlier this month as she excitedly posed with her catch of the day.

However, while she was having a lovely time, she was clearly feeling self-conscious about her looks during lockdown, even though she still looks lovely.

She wrote: ‘Ugliest face ever, 2 stone weight gain and grey hair due to lockdown but look how excited I am to hold my first river fish!! #fishing #river #weightgain

‘PS I have a hairdressers appointment next week, beyond excited!! #haircolor #grey #upyourgame.’

Chantelle found fame on Celebrity Big Brother 4 in 2006, where she was tasked with trying to the convince her fellow housemates she was a genuine star, by claiming she was a member of the pop group Kandy Floss.

She went onto win that series of CBB and sparked a romance with Ordinary Boys singer Preston.

They married seven months after leaving the house, before splitting in June 2007.
