Big Brother EXCLUSIVE: Finalist Daniel Gorringe is DEVASTATED by his edit ahead of live finale

Big Brother EXCLUSIVE: Daniel Gorringe is DEVASTATED by his edit ahead of the show’s live finale and hopes in five years’ time he won’t be known as ‘that reality TV guy’

Daniel Gorringe is hoping the public will vote for him to win Big Brother’s incredible $230,000 cash prize ahead of Wednesday night’s live finale.

But after being the target of fan backlash and harsh trolling, Dan is mainly excited to start his next chapter away from the reality TV spotlight.

‘There’s been a few reckless nights of sleep and I’m exhausted to be honest with all the stress. It’s taken a toll on me,’ the 28-year-old told Daily Mail Australia.

Dan and housemate Mat Garrick faced scurrility from the public over the past few weeks for orchestrating a nasty ‘boys’ club blindside’ against finalist Sophie Budack.

‘My mental health has taken a massive toll throughout the whole thing, just from the bullying and to be made out to be someone I don’t believe Mat or myself are. It’s been really really tough.

‘I wouldn’t wish this treatment on my worst enemy, to be molded into something and receive comments online and make hate popular. It’s been tough,’ he added.

Ahead of the live finale on Wednesday night, Dan said he believed he gave viewers a ‘fairly good blueprint of how to win Big Brother’.

‘If Australia want an underdog, I don’t think Sophie [Budack] or Chad [Hurst] are by any mile – they’re probably the favourites!’ the retired AFL star said.

Dan continued: ‘I’m excited to see everyone together [at the finale] in a space that’s goign to be live. It will be interesting, because you can’t manipulative live television.’

‘It will be different to see how Australia perceives characters when they’re live.’

‘I’m also excited for the next chapter. I don’t want to be Dan from Big Brother in five years’ time. I want to be something bigger and better than that.

‘I’m not goign to sit back and hope things fall into place. I’ve been lucky to be given a platform at the moment, so I’d love to entertain on a bigger platform, whether that’s TV or radio. I’ll be working very hard to make it happen,’ he said.

Dan said former Big Brother and AFL star Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald’s successful transition into a media career is the perfect example of what he’s hoping to achieve.

‘To see his career now and what he’s done as a public figure, I really like who he is as a person and have great respect for him… hopefully people will forget I’m Dan from Big Brother and I’ll be Dan from something else.’
