MasterChef bid farewell to fan favourite Reynold Poernomo after he was eliminated from the competition on Sunday.

The 26-year-old chef was sent home after failing to impress the judges with his toffee apple dessert.

Following the announcement, viewers were quick to vent on social media.

‘I for one put forward the motion that Reynold replaces Andy as a MasterChef judge for 2021,’ one fan wrote.

A second said: ‘I’m not tuning in tomorrow, my 13-year-old daughter is devastated Just apologise and say Reynold is the winner.’ 

While a third announced it was ‘time to crowdfund a trophy for Reynold’, along with a crying face emoji.

‘I’ll be taking a trip down to Koi soon to witness Reynold’s genius creations and support a fellow Asian,’ wrote another.

On the night, guest judge Martin Benn, of Sepia fame, said Reynold’s dish was ‘lollipop sweet’.

Upon his elimination, Reynold broke down completely, and was unable to speak as he wept. 

He turned from the cameras, clutching his head, and at one stage leaned down on a bench, overcome with emotion.

Afterwards, the chef admitted: 'I feel pretty devastated. I really believed that I could win. But even though I didn't win I'd say it was all worth it'

With tears running down his cheeks, the cook composed himself enough to say: ‘This competition has given so much.  

‘I’m so happy to be here. Second chances don’t come around often. And it has been an absolute amazing experience.’

The MasterChef: Back to Win Grand Finale will air Monday, 7.30pm on Channel Ten
