Why does Michael Clarke have such smooth legs? Fans are left puzzled after noticing the former cricketer’s hairless pins during his sun-soaked getaway with Pip Edwards

Michael Clarke, 39, finally confirmed his romance with fashion designer Pip Edwards, 40, last week when they embarked upon a romantic Noosa getaway.

And as Michael’s jaunt in paradise gleans national attention, fans have noticed a rather puzzling detail about the sportsman’s personal grooming habits –  his remarkably smooth legs.

Michael has been proudly showing off his groomed pins in various pairs of cropped trousers and shorts during his sun-soaked holiday.

While it’s less common for men to shave their leg hair than women, the look is not uncommon among males who live a sporty lifestyle – especially those who enjoy cycling and swimming.

Shaving off one’s hair can improve the aerodynamics of an athlete’s body, thereby helping the body to move faster.

While some men choose to remove their leg hair simply for aesthetic reasons, many athletes also shave their legs to avoid hair root infections and improve their skin’s healing process.

Speaking to The Guardian, professional cyclist Gerald Ciolek explained: ‘By shaving, you avoid the uncomfortable hair root infections that can be caused by our daily massages. Also, wounds simply heal faster after crashes and don’t get infected as easily.’

‘Not to mention that it just looks better,’ he added.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Michael for comment.

It’s not the first time Michael’s personal grooming choices have garnered attention.

Michael famously sported a noticeably orange fake tan on many occasions throughout his relationship with model Lara Bingle in the early 2000s.

The cricketer’s former team-mate Simon Katich even recently joked to The Age about Michel’s famous spray tan while describing their infamous 2009 dressing room row.

”The hardest thing about the whole affair is that it took a month to get the fake tan off my hands,’ the former opening batsman quipped of the incident, which saw him grab Michael by the throat.
