AGT bodybuilder Janice Lorraine, 77, on staying fit during COVID-19

Elderly bodybuilder Janice Lorraine, 77, from Australia’s Got Talent says she isn’t letting COVID-19 get in the way of her gruelling fitness routine

She blew the judges away on Australia’s Got Talent last year when she flaunted her incredibly buff physique on the series.

And on Monday, 77-year-old Janice Lorraine revealed on The Morning Show that she hasn’t let the COVID-19 outbreak stop her from achieving her health and fitness goals.

‘Wherever there is a will there is a way,’ she told hosts Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur, explaining that she has been training for an upcoming bodybuilding competition in November.

‘I had five eight-kilometre walks a week, and I did some floor work like sit-ups and push-ups, and I had 5kg weights at home so I could do my arms and shoulders,’ she explained.

Janice hasn’t been using stress as an excuse to binge on junk food either, as she’s been sticking to her usual diet.

‘My main meal is a salad, and I either have grilled fish, steamed chicken, or I might have some eye fillet steaks,’ she said.

The retired school teacher and former counsellor encouraged everyone to believe ‘age is just a number’ and that women can do ‘anything they want’.

‘There are so many times when older women get called an old bag… They just feel like they are nothing and life was all over because they turned 40 or 50,’ she said.

‘It doesn’t have to be over. It can be even more exciting as you go along,’ she added.

Last August, Janice blew the audience away when she took to the stage in a shiny purple bikini and flexed her extraordinary muscles to Donna Summer’s disco classic, Hot Stuff on Australia’s Got Talent.

Judge Shane Jacobson looked on with his mouth agape as Janice strutted about the stage.

What’s even more extraordinary is that the elderly fitness fanatic only took up body building training in the past 20 years.

‘I can’t believe that your body is better than mine,’ quipped fellow judge Manu Feildel.

‘Oh I don’t know I can’t see your body, really,’ said Janice with a laugh.

Janice received three ‘yes’ votes from the judging panel, bar Manu, who voted no.

She made it through to the next round, regardless, much to the excitement of the enthralled studio audience, however was later voted out and the season was won by pole dancer Kristy Sellars.
