Dermot O’Leary and Ore Oduba are ‘set to step in as guest presenters on This Morning’

Dermot O’Leary and Ore Oduba are reportedly set to step in as This Morning’s guest presenters for the summer.

The X Factor host, 47, will join pregnant fashion correspondent Rochelle Humes to host an upcoming show on Friday, before teaming up with Alison Hammond for another edition.

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will take over from Mondays to Thursday while the programme’s regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on a well-deserved, two-month break.

According to The Mirror, former Saturdays singer Rochelle, 31, will also front a Friday episode with Strictly 2016 winner Ore, 34, as well as a separate show with comedian Alison, 45.

New dad Dermot, who recently welcomed his first child Kasper with wife Dee Koppang, 41, previously stood in for Phillip, 58, as he presented the show alongside Holly, 39, in January 2014, and Ore did the same in November 2016 and March 2017.

The broadcaster is best known for hosting ITV’s competition series X Factor on-off from 2007, while the theatre actor rose to prominence as a presenter for Newsround from 2008 until 2013.

MailOnline has contacted ITV representatives for further comment.

ITV are expected to announce the summer rota on Monday, after at least 10 million people tuned in to watch the fan favourite during the first week of lockdown.

Show editor Martin Frizell said: ‘We’ve been inundated with viewers’ positive feedback throughout lockdown on how This Morning has provided a much-needed comfort blanket.’

Broadcaster Eamonn, 60, enthused: ‘It’s set to be a very different summer for us all, so we hope that here on This Morning we can continue to provide some sense of normality, and lots of craziness of course.’

TV veteran Ruth, also 60, added: ‘Like many viewers I’ve finally had my hair done – hurrah – and am ready to face the summer.’

This Morning is also set to hire a black presenter, after ITV bosses unveiled a plan to diversify the channel with more black, Asian and ethnic minority stars.

Last month, The Mail on Sunday revealed that the programme’s editor is seeking to change the line-up to include a black presenter.

It has now been claimed that bosses held a meeting earlier this week to detail a ‘diversity acceleration plan’ with sights to recruit a black presenter for the first time in the magazine show’s 32 year history.

Insiders told Daily Star that the strategy details how ITV can ‘better represent contemporary British life on screen and will do this by ‘increasing the diversity of presenters of ITV’s highest profile programmes’.

While the plans are said to be extending to Loose Women, GMB, Coronation Street and Emmerdale in the future, it has been claimed that This Morning – now fronted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – will come first.

Alison, Rochelle and her husband Marvin Humes act as stand-in presenters and host segments, however it is believed the shake-up is looking to hire a presenter for the main show.

This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays from 10am.
