Emilee Hembrow has candidly discussed the impact of losing her unborn son on her two older children, daughter Aaliyah, three, and son Gabriel, one

The 28-year-old sister of fitness sensation Tammy Hembrow lost her son, Jamal, when she was thirty weeks pregnant in June.

Emilee shared a lengthy heartfelt post to Instagram on Saturday, where she revealed how the children were coping and the touching way her husband had helped them understood Jamal was going to ‘heaven’.

Tragic: On Saturday, Influencer Emilee Hembrow shared a heartfelt post to Instagram where she revealed how her children Aaliyah, three, and Gabriel, one, are coping following the death of their unborn brother Jamal (Emilee is pictured with Aaliyah and Gabriel)

‘Talking to siblings about loss can be difficult,’ Emilee captioned a photo of her sitting outdoors on a fence, holding Gabriel on her hip while Aaliyah cuddled her.

‘Gabriel is too young to understand what happened but I’ve noticed he has become extra clingy with me, giving me extra kisses, maybe he can just sense something,’ she said.

However, Aaliyah had a lot of questions about what had happened to the brother she had never been able to meet.

Heartbreaking: 'Gabriel is too young to understand what happened but I've noticed he has become extra clingy with me, giving me extra kisses, maybe he can just sense something,' she said of her one-year-old son

Devastating: 'Aaliyah on the other hand has asked a lot of questions, her dad and I have explained that her baby brother will be watching over her with God,' she said of her three-year-old daughter

Emilee explained her husband came up with an idea to help the children understand Jamal was going to ‘heaven’ after the funeral.

‘Even when I was too weak to think of anything my amazing husband organised balloons for the funeral, to explain to Aaliyah that once she let go of them, baby Jamal would go up with them to heaven,’ she said.

Emilee finished by saying even though it was hard, she was glad she had an honest conversation with the children about loss.

‘I think it’s so important not to shut your kids out and have a healthy communication about your loss,’ she said.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Emilee posted video to Instagram Stories to thank her followers for their support as she and her family mourned the tragic loss.

Emilee explained other mothers reaching out to her on social media had been a ‘blessing’ and helped her find ‘so much strength’ from hearing other stories.

‘I just wanted to jump on here and say a huge thank you for all the supportive, the love, the messages, DMs, comments, gifts, flowers, emails. It’s been so overwhelming for me and my husband, we’re so grateful,’ Emilee said.

She continued: ‘At times having social media and everyone watching your life and asking questions can be hard.

So sad: 'It happens all the time. I had a low risk, healthy pregnancy. I did all the tests, they all came back 100 per cent perfect. This can just happen. Baby Jamal's heart beat just stopped,' Emilee said

‘But reading all your DMs and being able to speak to other women and families who are going through the same thing or just went through this has been so amazing, it’s been such a blessing. I’ve found so much strength from you guys.’

Emilee went on to explain she hadn’t known how ‘common’ stillbirth and miscarriage was, even during ‘healthy’ pregnancies.

‘It’s just something people don’t talk about their experiences I guess and I understand that it’s really hard. But I feel like if other women how many other people are going through this, you’re not alone,’ she said, tearing up.

She told her followers she had been trying to film the video all week, but couldn’t help but become emotional when speaking about it verbally.

Emilee announced the devastating loss in an Instagram post on June 21, sharing an illustration of a weeping woman kneeling in front of a baby angel.

‘This world is short, and we believe our angel Jamal Reign Ada is waiting at the gates of paradise for mum and dad with open arms. Rest in peace our little angel,’ she wrote.
