The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik reveals coronavirus lockdown has felt ‘incredibly taxing, isolating and emotional’

The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik opened up about her mental health struggles during the coronavirus-enforced lockdown on Kelly Clarkson’s hit talk show.

As the duo discussed self-isolation, the 44-year-old neuroscientist admitted navigating quarantine restrictions has been a ‘rollercoaster’ of emotions.

‘I’m not going to sugarcoat it, it’s been incredibly taxing for many of us – especially those of us who struggled before,’ the four-time Emmy nominee told the host.

She explained: ‘I’m an introvert by nature which means I don’t mind being on my own and not really going out a lot, but the notion that it’s been chosen for me, it can be really isolating.’

The actress, who previously revealed she started therapy at 18 and has battled depression, noted that her temper has been short, her sleep cycle disrupted and she is ‘getting heartburn again’ from stress.

‘I was talking with a girlfriend and even my lady cycle has felt more emotional during the quarantine. Everything is heightened,’ Bialik revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

Clarkson, 38, echoed Bialik’s plight, as she pointed out the lockdowns have not been good for her depression.

The three-time Grammy winner said she has been having a difficult time ‘not seeing humans and not interacting’ because as an extrovert, she feeds ‘off of people’s energy.’

‘I definitely missed even like my glam squad,’ the mother-of-two said, as she talked about not getting to interact with the people she has chosen to surround herself with in life.

Bialik, who co-parents her sons Frederick, 11, and Miles, 14, with ex-husband Michael Stone, also talked about bonding with her teen through TikTok.

Meanwhile, Clarkson filed for divorce last month from her husband Brandon Blackstock, after almost seven years together as a married couple.

The pair share two children, five-year-old daughter River Rose and four-year-old son Remington Alexander.

Blackstock also shares his 13-year-old son Seth and 17-year-old daughter Savannah with his ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.

The pair recently put their family home on the market and Clarkson revealed in an interview that she wanted another child, while Blackstock said he did not because he has two from his previous marriage.

Clarkson previously explained how she remained independent throughout her marriage telling Red Book in 2015: ‘Brandon is not my other half. He’s a whole and I’m a whole.’
