Comedian set to replace Lindsay Lohan on Masked Singer – after the Freaky Friday star stepped down due to COVID-19 travel restrictions

Earlier this week, Lindsay Lohan was forced to step down from her role as a panelist on The Masked Singer Australia due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

But Network 10 have sought to replace the Parent Trap star, 34, seeking out a celebrity panelist who is closer to Australian shores.

According to a report in the Herald Sun on Friday, comedian and actor Urzila Carlson is the new Masked Singer Australia judge.

Popular Auckland-based star Urzila has a new stand-up special which is set to launch on Netflix next week.

The 44-year-old, who was born in South Africa, is no stranger to Channel 10, making numerous appearances on the popular panel show Have You Been Paying Attention?

Network 10 have yet to confirm the publication’s claim.

But there may be more changes to come, after Melbourne was plunged into stage-three lockdown this week following a spike in coronavirus cases.

Season two of The Masked Singer was scheduled to begin filming later this month in the Victorian capital, but has been delayed because of the escalating pandemic.

Domestic travel restrictions between NSW and Victoria has disrupted filming, with judge Dave Hughes confirming to Daily Mail Australia: ‘It’s delayed as far as I know.’

Fellow judge Jackie ‘O’ Henderson is based in Sydney for her KIIS FM breakfast show, and the new rules mean she may not be able to travel interstate for a while.

This is despite the fact Channel 10 has already confirmed her return to the franchise.

Host Osher Günsberg is also based in Sydney.
