Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita are ‘overjoyed’ after welcoming their first child together

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his husband Justin Mikita became first-time fathers on Tuesday.  

‘Jesse and Justin welcomed their little bundle of joy Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020,’ the actor’s rep confirmed to People on Thursday. ‘The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family-of-three.’ 

The 44-year-old Modern Family star first confirmed he and Mikita, 34, were officially expanding their family in January, during an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

‘This is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all, but I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband,’ he gushed.  

The TV star said: ‘I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband.’

Adding: ‘I’m very excited but it feels like I’m 44 now, let’s get this show going. Tik tok,’ he said pointing to his watch.

He joked that it needs to remain a secret between the three of them – him, James and fellow guest Charlie Hunnam, as well as the audience. 

When James asked him if he knows if he’s having a boy or a girl, Jesse joked: ‘A human.’ 

The news came after host James Corden asked Jesse if turning 40 was a big deal and he said it was because it’s ‘finally when you become an adult.’

Jesse announced his engagement to Justin in September of 2012, after dating for two years.

The duo said their I do’s in New York City on July 20, 2013 with Tony Kushner, a playwright and screenwriter, officiating the wedding.

After wrapping 11 seasons on his hit ABC sitcom, Jesse became the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in February.
