Hollywood legend is spotted in Cairns with a very different look than his usual suave red carpet style… so do you recognise him?

He’s the legendary Australian filmmaker behind classics like Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge.

And on Wednesday, Baz Luhrmann was spotted in Cairns, Queensland, with a much different look than fans are used to seeing on him.

Instead of the dapper red carpet style that he’s known for, the 57-year-old had wild, loose hair and a Hawaiian shirt the the top button undone.

The director was at a vintage store The Other Shop with his daughter, Lilly.

Baz has been in Queensland shooting his upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, Elvis.

Production on the film came to a halt back in March after Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson tested positive for the coronavirus.

‘I’m sure it will come as no surprise that this is not the moment to be resuming production on the film,’ Baz said in a statement at the time.

‘Please know this is in no way a reflection on our commitment to make this movie here in Queensland,’ he added.

‘In fact, we are not even taking our sets down, simply locking up the creative space over the next few days.’

The filmmaker added that he spoke to the Australian premier, Annastacia Palaszcuk, and they all agreed it wasn’t the right time for filming.

‘We all agree that right now this is the right time for people all over the world, from all walks of life, to be at home, indoors, with their loved ones (washing our hands five times a day),’ he added.

‘All going well, we have a passionate conviction to be back here on the Gold Coast, picking up where we left off as soon as the time is right,’ the filmmaker concluded.
