The Voice’s Soma Sutton hits back at claims she was a ‘brat’ before elimination

The Voice star Soma Sutton has hit back at claims she was being a ‘brat’ on the show by saying she got a poor edit.

The reality star, 26, appeared to spit the dummy after she was dumped during the play-offs but she claimed that was not the case on Instagram on Wednesday.

They edited it and depicted me to be ungrateful which is not the case. That’s ok, the audience feeds off the drama and this is a tv show,’ she wrote.

‘You will never see the way I actually responded due to the way they edit the scenes,’ she added.

‘This is TV and I was prepared for this. I was very appreciative of my opponents win and to the coaches.’

Soma went on to say she has been given an ‘overwhelming amount of love’, as well as some backlash from the show.

Soma was labelled a ‘brat’ and an ungrateful ‘Karen’ by Twitter fans after her elimination.

On Tuesday’s show, Soma blasted the judges after her mentor, Guy Sebastian, failed to pick her in the playoff round.

She had performed the Brandy and Monica track The Boy Is Mine, complete with a rap segment.

Afterwards she was told by Guy: ‘I feel like I’ve unlocked something that you need to work on, but you need time to work on it.

‘But I just don’t think this particular time in your life on this particular show is right for you right now.’

Looking shocked and angry, Soma snapped back: ‘Okay, well, the thing about that is that I didn’t really want to come on the show in the first place!

‘I was convinced to come here, to be here, to stand here and do this in front of you. And, like, it is disheartening.’

She continued her rant, lashing out at the judges and suggesting that their advice for her was not genuine.

While Kelly Rowland tried to step in and calm her down, Soma was having none of it.

‘I think the disheartening thing about it is that you don’t have enough time to get to know me. You don’t know why I am in my shell.’

Guy responded carefully, telling her: ‘We can only dive in to our artists as much as they let us dive in.

‘If you don’t tell me what stops you from being the artist you need to be, what can I do?’

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on the condition of anonymity, an eliminated singer from this year’s season claimed that all communication between the contestants and coaches was done via the producers.

‘We had little to no access to the judges,’ the contestant claimed. ‘Everything was screened and it was up to the producers [to pass it on],’ they said.

Gone! The final insult came when Guy failed to pick Soma as his wildcard, choosing Matt Gresham instead and eliminating Soma from The Voice altogether
