Savannah Chrisley and Nic Kerdiles are having ‘challenging conversations’ after wedding postponement

Savannah Chrisley of Chrisley Knows Best and Nic Kerdiles are still dating after ending their engagement eight months ago: ‘We moved way too fast’

Savannah Chrisley first revealed she and Nic Kerdiles were ‘taking some steps back’ in their relationship at the end of 2019, after she accepted his proposal last April.

After postponing their wedding, the 22-year-old reality star revealed they’ve ‘gone back to dating’ and are ‘taking some time to figure out ourselves.’

While the couple is no longer engaged, the former beauty queen opened up to  Us Weekly about undergoing  ‘challenging conversations’ with Nic and navigating the global coronavirus pandemic together.

‘We both realized that things moved way too fast and we needed to go back to dating,’ she explained of the decision to end their engagement.

She added: ‘I think right now it’s a lot of focusing on us individually, because I’m a firm believer that if you’re not good to yourself you can’t be good for anyone else.’

Ahead of the upcoming season eight premiere of Chrisley Knows Best, Savannah reflected on their ‘unique’ relationship and feeling swept in excitement over the idea of walking down the aisle.

‘We’ve had a lot of challenging conversations and we love it because it forces us to know better and do better and there’s just a lot of learning going on,’ Savannah noted.

After becoming betrothed, she felt pressure to ‘to get married soon.’

The stunner admitted: ‘We just had to finally take a second to step and say, ‘OK, what’s best for us?’ And we just realized that we kind of rushed into things really fast and we still had a lot of learning and growing to do.’

‘I think right now, with the whole COVID thing, I feel like this is our new normal for quite some time and I believe that everything happens for a reason,’ she told the outlet. ‘God has got a plan and that’s what I’m trusting in.’

Last month, she discussed her relationship with her father Todd on his podcast Chrisley Confessions.

‘I just knew we had to work on things on a different level. We had to dig deeper and it’s hard. It’s 2020 and you know what, it’s okay not to follow the guidelines and the whole timeframe that everyone follows,’ she said.

The couple was planning to get married on May 9, which would have meant the date would be postponed due to COVID-19 regardless: ‘You just have to do what is best for you. If it would have been May 9, we would have been screwed. That would have been so bad.’

And although he hired a wedding planner and began scouting venues, Todd was a supportive dad throughout the decision.

She revealed to E! News back in October that the wedding was postponed, but they’re still together: ‘Marriage isn’t just for the Instagram, it’s not for the photos, it’s not a photo-opp. It’s a real life thing.’
