Jack Speed, 21, led police through a dangerous pursuit in Edrington, Birmingham, before having a taser turned on him

Dramatic footage showed the 21-year-old hitting breakneck speeds through residential streets after failing to stop for officers on January 2.

The reckless motorist, who was banned from the roads, could be seen tearing around Erdington, Birmingham, in his BMW 1 series as police gave chase at around 11pm at night.

At one point during the pursuit, during which he hit speeds of 100mph- including 80mph in a 30mph zone – Speed tried to reverse into a police car before swerving around a bus.

Speed also raced through a red light at 70mph and went the wrong way around a roundabout before he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall and parked car.

Camera footage picked up the moment Speed was finally corner by officers, who surrounded the vehicle in order to enable an arrest.

The 21-year-old had a nervous and startled expression as police urged him to get out of the car, holding both hands up in front of his face with palms showing outwards.
