Channel Ten announces that The Masked Singer Australia will be back for its second season SOON

The second season of The Masked Singer will be returning to Channel Ten soon.

The exciting news was announced on the show’s Instagram platform on Tuesday evening, alongside a thrilling highlights clip from last year.

In the one-minute video, Lindsay Lohan, Dannii Minogue, Dave Hughes, and Jackie O look shocked as they come face to face with celebrity singers such as Kate Ceberano and Cody Simpson who finally unmasked themselves.

Twelve new masked celebrities are said to be taking to the stage to show off their vocal prowess, while the judges attempt to figure out who it is. 

In the caption accompanying the first look:  ‘The Masked Singer 2020! WE’RE BAAAAAACK! The global sensation that took Australia by storm is back for 2020 and whilst we can’t tell you much, here’s a taste of what to expect. 

‘Which mask will you be barracking for? The Masked Singer returns to 10 soon.’ 

An exact air date has yet to be confirmed by Channel Ten.  

The Masked Singer Australia is one of few television shows that hasn’t been negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

In May, Beverley McGarvey, the Chief Content Officer for ViacomCBS Australia, told News.com.au that season two promises to be better than last year’s.

‘If there was ever a show made for lockdown, it was this. People are in masks anyway,’ she said.

 McGarvey added that the pandemic also meant some big-name Australian stars had returned home and wouldn’t be able to leave the country for a while.

 As a result, the network managed to sign ‘some very exciting celebrities’ to appear as masked singers on the second season.

 ‘There’s a lot of [high-profile] people in Australia at the minute who normally wouldn’t be because everyone’s come home to hunker down,’ she said.

However, with international borders closed indefinitely, McGarvey said at the time that it was looking unlikely that American judge Lindsay Lohan would be able to return to Australia to film the series.

But the network expressed they were looking into different ‘options’, hinting that Lindsay could possibly film her contributions via video link from LA.
