Robbie Williams has revealed he was nearly beheaded by bandits after travelling to Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake.

The singer, 46, revealed that he and his wife Ayda Field, 41,  feared for their lives during a four-day trip to the country, which had been destroyed by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.

Robbie went onto say the trip made him realise that children were ‘hit the hardest’ by such a disaster, and encouraged him to become a father in the future.

Robbie told Heart Radio: ‘I’ve been wanting to get back to work and do things. And I’ve been thinking, I’ve got sort of anxiety about, I can’t get and be and do, and then I thought to myself, do you know what, I’m in exactly the right place with exactly the right people at exactly the right time.

‘There might never be another time on the planet where I get to spend this much concentrated time with my family, my kids so I’m very grateful.’
