Comedian Marty Sheargold dresses up as a ‘Dubai mining magnate’ on Have You Been Paying Attention? and asks if cultural appropriation is fine ‘if you do it in the privacy of your own home’

Marty Sheargold has been called out for his ‘unfunny’ and ‘borderline inappropriate’ jokes on Have You Been Paying Attention? on Monday.

The comedian and radio host, 49, made several jokes that did not sit well with some viewers at home, who flocked to Twitter to slam him.

During the episode, the guests were asked to name which animated film was getting a sequel, to which Marty replied: ‘I was going to ask if you’d accept… Kung Flu Panda!’

The joke drew a few giggles from the crew, but it was quickly brushed aside by host Tom Gleisner.

Earlier in the show, Marty had shared a photo of himself wearing what appeared to be a traditional ethnic outfit.

Marty explained: ‘That was me road testing a couple of ideas about cultural appropriation. Whether or not, and I’m asking everyone, it’s okay to do it in the privacy of your own home.’

In response to Marty’s jokes, a viewer tweeted: ‘This show is obviously pre-recorded with some answers being edited out – so why haven’t they edited out more of Marty’s unfunny and borderline inappropriate jokes?’

‘I’d ask why Marty is still allowed on television, but it’s @Channel10AU. We’re lucky he’s not the next Bachelor,’ another wrote.

‘Well… Marty is probably the least funny “comedian” I’ve seen in a while,’ a third viewer tweeted.

‘The “jokes” he’s made so far are borderline disaster in my view! I don’t find them funny to be honest,’ a fourth added.

Another wrote: ‘Marty is making the same jokes as my dad and he’s not on TV for a reason.’

Mixed reception: In response to Marty's jokes, one viewer asked why he was still allowed on television. Another tweeted, 'Why haven't they edited out more of Marty's unfunny and borderline inappropriate jokes?'
