Guy Sebastian surprises primary school children with unexpected performance during assembly

He has entertained Australian audiences for more than 15 years.

And on Wednesday, Guy Sebastian delighted a group of ‘super fans’ as he paid a surprise visit to St Joan of Arc Catholic Primary School in Haberfield, Sydney.

The 38-year-old singer heard the school choir had been learning his song, aptly titled Choir, and decided to pay them a special visit.

The ARIA award-singer is seen walking into the assembly hall mid-performance before he joins in on the song during the chorus.

The excited children were gobsmacked with his surprise appearance. 

Speaking out about his experience, Guy said: ‘To see them singing Choir was really very emotional and touching, so I’m glad I got to join in and surprise them.’

Guy, who is currently balancing coaching on The Voice while promoting his single,  Standing With You, also treated the students to his new song.

The singer went on to say that this was his first time performing in front of an audience since COVID-19 hit so it was quite an experience. 

‘It’s really cool that the first time we sang Standing With You in public was in front of kids,’ he added.

‘It was really special that it was at a small school with such talent & heart at the St Joan Of Arc Catholic Primary School in Haberfield,’ Guy added.    

Speaking about the historical event, the school’s principal, Desmond Fox, said: ‘The surprise as Guy entered soon turned to elation and excitement.’

‘We couldn’t believe it when we all realised that the Guy singing with our Choir was THE Guy actually singing his own song,’ he continued.
