GMB’s Laura Tobin discovers the perils of working from home as her daughter, 2, interrupts

Like thousands of other parents, Laura Tobin is still juggling working from home with childcare during the coronavirus pandemic.

And the Good Morning Britain star found it impossible to keep her daughter Charlotte, two, busy during her Tuesday morning weather forecast.

GMB shared a clip of Laura trying to prerecord a forecast, only to be interrupted by her adorable toddler.

Working mum: Good Morning Britain weather forecaster Laura Tobin was interrupted by her daughter Charlotte, two, as she recorded the show on Tuesday

Susanna Reid explained that Laura was trying to record during an advert break, with Charlotte meant to be playing quietly nearby.

‘Mummy’s just going to talk to some people, can you just be really quiet,’ Laura was seen asking her daughter. Just seconds later though she was forced to gently shush Charlotte as she continued to talk.

Laura managed to get through a few lines before her little girl wandered into shot, leading to giggles and an apology from Laura to her producers.

Later on Twitter, Laura explained that she had hoped Charlotte would be distracted by some arts and crafts while she recorded some segments.

Sharing photos of Charlotte playing with play-do and the two cuddled up together, Laura admitted that at least her little girl didn’t interrupt her live broadcast.

‘That’s a wrap from me & my ‘helpful’ assistant Charlotte (who also helped with makeup) I hoped she’d be distracted by play-Doh & colouring-She wasn’t (for a recording) BUT breakfast meant my live weather went uninterrupted. Who can relate?’ Laura wrote.

Responding to a fan who tweeted that ‘it’s nice to see that even people who work in media have the same struggles with homeschooling and working from home,’ Laura wrote: ‘Working from home & childcare a challenge for so many during lockdown.’

Viewers were delighted with GMB’s newest star though, with one fan tweeting: ‘Watching Laura’s daughter gatecrash the weather report this morning was so cute and funny. That was the lovely start that I needed to my day.’

Another added: ‘Ahhh Laura’s daughter is beautiful. And a welcome ray of sunshine in the morning.’

Laura welcomed Charlotte, her first child, in November 2017, after going into premature labour at just 27 weeks into her pregnancy.

The GMB star has previously credited the ITV show’s resident medic Dr Hilary Jones with saving her and Charlotte’s life.

Laura revealed she started to feel ill while at work in 2017, and Dr Hilary was the only one to realise she was actually in labour with her daughter.

‘I was at work and I thought I just had a bit of tummy pain or Braxton Hicks and it was only Dr Hilary that knew I was actually going into labour at 27 weeks,’ Laura explained, adding that the doctor kept her calm.

‘Dr Hilary phoned the hospital, got me there safely, kept me calm and sort of kept me in the dark for a while so I didn’t panic.

‘Because of him, Charlotte arrived safely and it could have been a very different story for both of us, so thank you.’
