Toronto shooting: One dead and ‘multiple people’ injured

BREAKING NEWS: At least one person is dead and ‘multiple people’ are injured after two men open fire in a Toronto street

At least one person, a man his 30s, has died after two men opened fire on a street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

According to police, the incident occurred at 11.40am local time at the intersection of St Clair Avenue W and St Clarens Avenue in the Corso Italia neighborhood.

Several peopled called 911 reporting ‘multiple gun shots’ and witnesses reported two men fleeing the scene in a four-door sedan.

Police have identified the men as ‘possible suspects’ but did not provide any other details.

‘Reports are there were multiple Individuals with firearms,’ Const Ed Parks said, according to CP24.

Paramedics said they attended to one person on the scene but did not transport anyone to a hospital, the station reported.

Images showed three police officers attempting to administer CPR to a man sprawled out next to a white GMC SUV with California license plates.

Multiple shell casings were seen around the car and the driver’s side front window have been blown out. 

Toronto City News reports that investigators believe the shooter was waiting for the victim to appear.

After firing his gun, the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle and fled the scene. 

CCTV footage, shared on Twitter by Mr Toronto Lawyer, captured two men holding guns on St Clair Avenue W around the time the shooting is said to have occurred.

Two men, one wearing a grey sweater and jeans and the other wearing a black hoodie and jeans, are seeing running from the upper right corner of the frame towards a car in the bottom left corner. 

It’s not immediately clear if these two men are the alleged suspects.

Investigators have currently taped off a section of the avenue where the incident occurred and several evidence markers can be seen on the street.

According to a police-operated Twitter account, the Duty Inspector will update the media with details at a date and time to be determined.
