Love Island’s Malin Andersson shares throwback image of her late parents in candid post about grief

Malin Andersson has uploaded a throwback image of herself as a baby alongside her late parents, who have both passed away from cancer.

In a candid Instagram post shared on Thursday, the Love Island star, 27, discussed her experience with grief and said she took her childhood for ‘granted’.

The mental health advocate, whose daughter Consy died a year ago aged just four weeks old after being born prematurely, also spoke about having ‘the s****est luck with trying to create my own family’, but insisted she stays motivated by ‘trusting the process and living in the moment’.

‘We miss the memories we didn’t cherish at the time’: Malin Andersson uploaded a throwback image of herself as a baby alongside her late parents, who both died from cancer, on Thursday

The reality TV star started off her post by confessing that feeling lonely in lockdown has left her struggling to ‘visualise’ her future.

Malin said: ‘*TRIGGER* ⚠️ Someone close to me once told me that I’ll create my own family. But why’s that so hard to visualise when you’re on your own, and the family you did have – have all gone.

‘Some died, some I don’t see, some live abroad. It’s the part and parcel of life. Everyone lives, dies, works inbetween. The rush of life – for us to miss the memories we didn’t cherish at the time.’

Her father passed away from skin cancer 26 years ago, and her mother died from another form of the disease in late 2017.

The TV star said she wishes she could ‘rewind time’ as she looked back at her younger years.

Malin explained: ‘If I could pause and reflect – I would rewind time to being a kid. I feel like I took that period of my life for granted. When we were all whole. A family unit. It hurts to think about the home we once had.’

The media personality went on to express her gratitude towards her relatives, but admitted she still struggles with her mental health from time to time as she lives alone.

‘Cancer is a b***h. It took both my parents but I’m fortunate to have my siblings even if I don’t see them often’, she said.

‘Thing is they have their own family; they life their own busy lives and I sometimes wonder to myself… why is it just me sat here alone in my house?

‘Why have I had such the s****est luck with trying to create my own family? I then snap out of it, and I remind myself that I will.’

The brave social media star ended her post by encouraging her fans to take their time with the prospect of settling down and growing their families.

She said: ‘You see we all force life to speed up. We want to rush everything, settle down, get married have kids.. for a divorce to happen, for all that time to have been wasted? For us to be unhappy because it was with the wrong person?

‘If you’re reading this, and you’re finding yourself in a similar situation to me please take a step back, look at how big the universe is… and know that your time will come. Trust the process.

‘Understand that some things have to fall apart in order for better things to fit together. Understand that this world has a purpose for you and your life will start to come together in its own pace. Trust the timing.

‘Let go of control, trust your journey and live in the present moment, the life you’re experiencing now is beautiful, embrace it. Don’t waste it. Don’t wish it away. You’re doing amazing. Your time will come. Ma x’ (sic)
