Ashley James has admitted that she used to ‘smooth out’ her skin during her adult acne battle.

Ashley added that she was made to feel ‘inferior’ after years of having her photos editing without her permission.

Confession: Ashley James has admitted that she used to ‘smooth out’ her skin during her adult acne battle

Talking on the Secure The Bag podcast with The Marketing Agency, she said: ‘In my twenties, I’d always have my body retouched by photographers without my permission.

‘I guess that made me feel inferior or like I needed a smaller waist or whatever it was. I think a big moment of realisation I didn’t want to continue like that is when I got adult acne.

‘I used to really smooth out all my skin. I became paranoid that when people came face-to-face with me they would be looking at how different my skin was to how it looked online.

‘So that’s when I was like, you know what, enough’s enough. I actually just have to embrace who I am.’

The former Made In Chelsea star slipped into a turquoise bandeau bikini from Elizabeth Hurley’s Beach line as she relaxed with a book on her terrace.

Posting a snap of the pair in April, she wrote: ‘I still find it really awkward talking about my relationship.

‘I’ve still got so much single pride and am fiercely independent, and I want to continue to encourage everyone to feel positive if they’re single.

‘But I’ll say this. Before meeting this guy, I worried that perhaps being single for so long I’d become TOO independent to ever be happy with someone.

‘I didn’t want another half or someone to complete me, I didn’t want a ‘best friend’, as I already have some.’
