Skydiver films the terrifying moment his parachute FAILS – sending him spinning through the air as he tries to open his emergency chute

  • Skydiving coach Joseph was on a routine work jump over Shelbyville, Tennessee
  • During the flight his main chute tangled and he had to open his emergency chute
  • He managed to deploy his reserve chute and land safely in a nearby field

A skydiving instructor captured his own mid-air emergency on camera when his parachute became tangled and he had to deploy his emergency chute.

The terrifying video, apparently filmed on a helmetcam, shows the instructor, identified only as Joseph, on a routine work jump above Shelbyville, Tennessee.

In the footage, filmed on June 13, another skydiver is seen free-falling before releasing his parachute and gliding high into the air, but it does not go as smoothly for Joseph.

The point-of-view footage shows the parachute cords twisting, leaving Joseph spinning through the air as he tries to get the chute under control.

As the lines continue to tangle themselves together, the experienced skydiver continues to fall for around 10 heart-stopping seconds.

But the instructor manages to release his first parachute and open his reserve chute, regaining control of his skydive.

Joseph is then able to guide himself towards the ground and safely lands in a field.
