Married At First Sight: Zoe Hendrix reveals why she split from Alex Garner

They welcomed their daughter, Harper Rose, in 2016, a year after meeting and falling in love on Married At First Sight.

And now Zoe Hendrix has spoken bravely about her decision to end her relationship with ‘husband’ Alex Garner in 2018.

Speaking to The Grace Tales last week, Zoe said that becoming parents had changed their lives in unexpected ways and it eventually took a toll on the couple.

‘I was doing a lot more than I thought I would be doing,’ Zoe said, reflecting on her first few months of motherhood.

‘In hindsight, I have learned that you don’t know who you’ve married until you have a child.’

Zoe continued: ‘Sometimes it’s not what you agreed, and it’s not how you thought things were going to go.’

Zoe rose to fame on the first season of Married At First Sight in 2015. She was paired with Alex and at first they seemed to be a perfect match. 

The pair split in early 2018, but continue to co-parent their three-year-old daughter.

In January last year, Zoe spoke to NW magazine about their split, saying that raising a child as a single mother was ‘really hard’. 

‘I mean motherhood is hard, so I think single motherhood takes a real adjustment. I’m giving myself time to adjust to it,’ she said. 

When asked about her co-parenting arrangement with Alex, she added: ‘It’s hard having to deal with a break-up when you have to see them three times a week. But we do put Harper first and we ensure she has everything she needs.’
