Grimes and Elon Musk have officially named their son X AE A-XII Musk on his birth certificate.
The eccentric celebrity couple had to slightly adapt his name to comply with California law.
The Canadian singer and her businessman husband had previously announced their newborn’s name was X Æ A-12.

But birth names in California must only contain letters from the English alphabet, with no numbers or special characters, TMZ have reported.
The parents have therefore had to change the character Æ, which is used in Norwegian and Danish and is often pronounced ‘Ash’, to ‘AE’ in their son’s name.
The final part of his unusual name, A-12, named after a 1960s spy plane, has been changed to Roman numerals to comply with state law.

It comes after Grimes told Bloomberg her nickname for baby X Æ A-12 is ‘Little X’.
She explained the name on Twitter after his birth: ‘X, the unknown variable. Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent + (A=Archangel, my favorite song) (metal rat).’
The Miss Anthropocene artist clarified that the bizarre moniker is pronounced: ‘Ex Ash A Twelve.’

Official name: Grimes changed it to abide by the law in California, where he was born, but she responded to an Instagram comment: ‘Roman numerals. Looks better tbh’
But Musk disagreed, as he said it was ‘Ex Ash Archangel Twelve’ on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
He also admitted the name was mostly Grimes’ idea, adding: ‘A-12 was my contribution. The Archangel-12, the precursor to the SR-71, the coolest plane ever.’
Grimes welcomed X Æ A-12 on May 4 with Musk, 48, who also shares six sons with ex-wife Justine Wilson, one of whom died at 10 weeks of SIDS.
It comes as she prepares to legally sell her soul for $10million at her online art exhibit Selling Out.
