Flop cat! Hilarious moment Simba the kitten tries to leap on top of a fridge but falls VERY short

  • Another cat, Silas, watched Simba’s hilarious attempt from the top of the fridge

It seems jumping onto a fridge is easier said than done for this kitten who doesn’t even come close in this hilarious video.

Footage recorded in Dunsborough, Western Australia, shows six-month old Simba staring longingly at the top of a fridge where another cat, Silas, is perched eating his dinner.

Having decided that he wanted in on the fridge-top meal, Simba assesses how far the jump is to the food from the kitchen counter he is sat on.

After giving himself a lick, Simba walks back along to the worktop to give himself a running start.

He reaches the end of the kitchen counter and pauses, giving the distance he needs to jump one last assessment – Silas is now watching Simba intently from atop the fridge.

To build up the courage to jump, Simba pads all four paws on the work surface as giggles are heard from people off camera.

With his courage built up Simba pushes off and leaps to reach the top of the fridge.

Unfortunately, the kitten is unable to cover the distance to the top of the fridge and flops down after as short time in the air.

One of Simba’s owners said: ‘Simba is a six-month old kitten who is a glutton and loves food. We have to put his big brother Silas’ food on top of the fridge, as it’s the only place Simba can’t steal it!

‘Simba stares longingly at the top of the fridge most days, and gets very jealous when Silas makes his graceful jump from the counter with ease.

‘One evening, Simba decided to try that jump for himself. Working up courage and adrenaline, he tapped his paws on the countertop, and SPRANG!

‘Only his leap of faith didn’t quite turn out the way he had hoped. Silas looks down in disbelief before continuing to eat his dinner.”

The video, which was filmed on May 18, was published yesterday.
