Abbie Chatfield is worried about how she will be edited on Bachelor in Paradise

Second time unlucky? The Bachelor’s Abbie Chatfield is worried about how she will be edited as she returns to screens on Bachelor in Paradise

Abbie Chatfield was portrayed as a ruthless temptress on The Bachelor last year in counterpoint to girl-next-door (and eventual winner) Chelsie McLeod.

And the 24-year-old is concerned she will be edited as the ‘sexy villain’ once again when season three of Bachelor in Paradise debuts in the coming weeks.

‘I already am worried about how the edits are going to go,’ she told New Idea.

She added: ‘I think when you’re on TV, you’re a one-dimensional character.

‘And my character was overtly sexual and confident, and to a lot of people that equals b***h.’

Abbie has often defended her stint on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor, claiming she was unfairly portrayed as the show’s antagonist.

In an article for Whimn, she said her fellow contestants had misinterpreted her loud, playful and sexually-forward personality.

‘I never did anything mean to any of the women, beyond spilling the beans on the “dog c**t” saga. I never spoke of any other woman to Matt, I never said anything insulting to any of the women and I certainly didn’t make any of them feel the way that I felt. Yet somehow, I was the villain,’ she wrote.

Abbie said that some of the women had made her feel unwelcome in the Bachelor mansion, and she had cried almost every day as a result.

She added that having her heart broken in the finale – Matt chose Chelsie as his winner, leaving Abbie in second place – was made worse by the bullying she faced on social media.

Abbie endured months of harassment on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram from strangers who shamed her for her behaviour on screen.

The new season of Bachelor in Paradise will see Abbie return to screens alongside the likes of Brittany Hockley, Ciarran Stott, Jessica Brody, Timm Hanly and Jamie Doran.

The series had originally been scheduled to air in April but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
