Nick Cordero isn’t ready for a lung transplant at the moment as he battle COVID-19 complications

Nick Cordero’s wife Amanda Kloots says Broadway star is showing small improvements but a lung transplant ‘isn’t on the table at the moment’

A lung transplant is not an option for Nick Cordero at this time in his recovery from COVID-19 complications.

On Day 72 in the Broadway star’s fight for life, his wife Amanda Kloots made the announcement, along with some hopeful news, on her Instagram Stories.

‘We did get a CT scan on his lungs back. It isn’t the prettiest, unfortunately,’ Kloots revealed, before adding that the doctor gave her instructions to stay positive because there are still some ‘options’ in his recovery.

Hopeful: Amanda Kloots, 38, shared an update on her husband Nick Cordero’s condition as the Broadway star battles serious complications from COVID-19

‘He told me today that despite a not pretty CT scan on Nick’s chest and lungs area, that the lungs are amazing and they can function, and we just keep thinking about the options that we have and getting him stronger,’ the fitness instructor continued.

She went on to talk about how the doctor told her how lungs have an incredible ability to ‘recover’, and to ‘not give up hope because you never know what the functionality of something is based off of a picture.’

Kloots started out her update by revealing Cordero had received a ‘second round of exosomes treatment into his system,’ and that there have already seen some small improvements with his white blood cell count.

Kloots expects to get a full report on the results of that second round of exosomes treatment next Wednesday.

Back in April, Kloots told her Instagram followers that her husband’s lungs had become severely damaged since contracting coronavirus.

Some COVID-19 patients have received lung transplants as part of their treatment, but in a new post Kloots said it’s still off the table for Cordero because doctors ‘don’t think Nick could handle or survive a lung transplant.’

‘However, one day, if he does get strong enough, maybe that is something that could be a possibility for Nick. But right now, not a possibility,’ she added.

‘He just wouldn’t survive. He’s just too weak.

Doctors at a California’s Cedars Sinai Medical Center opted to put Cordero, 41, into a medically-induced coma after he was hospitalized for pneumonia on April 1, and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.

Blood-clotting issues forced doctors to amputate his right leg and his lungs have suffered severe damage due to the respiratory disease. He has also received a temporary pacemaker.

At one point, in April, the Canadian native’s blood pressure dropped so low he lost consciousness and had to be resuscitated.

Cordero is a Tony Award-nominated stage actor who has starred in shows like Bullets Over Broadway, Rock of Ages and Waitress.

A GoFundMe page created to raise funds for Cordero’s medical bills has raised more than $564,000 as of Friday after beginning with a $480,000 goal.
