MasterChef contestants reveal what REALLY happens when the judges taste the food and claim that Jock Zonfrillo is the ‘biggest eater’ on set

Last week, MasterChef fans couldn’t help but notice how the judges eat their meals on the show.

And now some contestants of the hit franchise have revealed what really happens during the taste testing sessions.

They also spilled the beans and said that Jock Zonfrillo is the judge with the biggest appetite on set.

Callum Hann told News.com.au this week that Jock is the ‘biggest eater’ he’s ever seen.

‘Jock is the biggest eater I have ever met, and I eat a lot! He’ll have three helpings at lunch and then taste our dishes all afternoon!’ Callum told the publication.

Tessa Boersma added: ‘Jock sometimes eats a full lunch before a challenge and tastings… Even with 24 people in the competition. How can someone fit that much food in their stomach?’

It comes after viewers couldn’t help but notice how the judges tasted their meals last week.

Viewers flocked to Facebook last Wednesday to critique the way that Jock Zonfrillo ‘shovels his food into his mouth’.

The comment came after one fan remarked in the MasterChef Banter 2020 group that they love how ‘daintily’ fellow judge Melissa Leong tries her dishes, after being ‘disgusted’ and ‘revolted’ watching George Calombaris eat on screen for years.

‘After Ten years of being disgusted and revolted watching George shovelling food down his gob, eating like this was the first meal of someone who had just gotten out of prison, watching him with his arm wrapped around the bowl guarding it as if he thought someone was going to steal it,’ their post began.

‘Oh and continuously licking his knife. I’m totally enjoying watching Melissa eat.’

They added: ‘She eats each bite so daintily, so seductively, with such obvious pleasure, I am enthralled and happy.’

But it wasn’t long before they took a swipe at Jock.

‘Jock shovels such [a] huge mouthful I watch in anticipation as to how big a spoonful the next one will be lol,’ one fan wrote, adding that it’s ‘very entertaining’ to watch.

Another added: ‘And [he] finishes most meals too.’

In 2015, George Calombaris told Daily Mail Australia that while viewers are fascinated by the ‘hot’ appetizing food they see, the dishes being judged are actually eaten when they are stone cold.

‘It has always been cold and it always will be cold but we taste everything hot off camera,’ George told Daily Mail Australia.

‘So at the end of the cook, you [viewers] don’t see that – no one sees that apart from the three of us and the executive producer. We will go around the room and the three of us will taste everything hot out of their [contestants] pot.

‘It looks sexy on TV but it takes time to film. So when you see us tasting at the end – it’s cold but I’ve already made the decision, I already know what it tastes like.’

Judges Jock, Melissa, and Andy Allen replaced George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston on the show earlier this year.
