The Voice EXCLUSIVE: Nine houses contestants out in Sydney’s west

The Voice EXCLUSIVE: Channel Nine houses the contestants way out in Sydney’s western suburbs… while the coaches stay in multi-million dollar mansions across the city

This year’s contestants on The Voice may be dreaming of hitting the big time.

But as production resumed on the Channel Nine talent show this week, the singers have been ousted from high-end suburbs such as Bondi and Randwick, where the coaches are living in luxury.

Instead, producers have housed the finalists out in Campbelltown, which is 57km away from Sydney’s CBD and popular celebrity hotspots.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that all of the interstate contestants checked into the Rydges Hotel in Campbelltown last weekend, after flying into Sydney.

Although it’s a four-star hotel, boasting skyline views of the western suburbs, they’ve found themselves with little to do because they’re so isolated.

‘After they all checked in, they basically just spent hours strolling through Campbelltown Mall and making TikToks in the hotel lobby. There wasn’t a lot for them to be doing until filming started,’ an insider told Daily Mail Australia.

Meanwhile, it’s a completely different story for The Voice coaches, who are all put up in multi-million dollar mansions and rentals in the heart of Sydney.

Although Kelly Rowland hasn’t been able to return for the Battle Rounds due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Destiny’s Child star always has a five-star suite reserved at QT Bondi when she’s in town.

Similarly, Boy George, who hasn’t been able to return to Australia either, is usually put up in a $27,000-per-month mansion in Centennial Park.

He has staying in the same rental while filming the past two seasons.

Delta Goodrem and Guy Sebastian live locally, so they stay at home during filming. New hosts Darren McMullen and Renee Bargh are believed to be staying at five-star apartments in Sydney’s Darlinghurst.

It is unclear why The Voice contestants are staying in Campbelltown.

This year, the production site moved from Fox Studios in Moore Park to a custom-built studio in Liverpool, which is still 23km away from the contestants’ hotel.

Filming for the show resumed this week following a three-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Veronicas’ Jess and Lisa Origliasso will help mentor Boy George’s acts, while Marcia Hines will assist with Kelly Rowland’s team.

George and Kelly will still appear in the series and have been coaching their singers remotely via FaceTime.
