Cristiano Ronaldo and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez make whirlwind trip to Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez made a whirlwind trip back to his native Portugal this week, after isolating in Turin, Italy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Juventus footballer, 35, was snapped visiting one of his favorite eateries, Restaurante Mar Do Inferno in Cascais, Lisbon on Monday, where he surprised the delighted owner, Maria de Lurdes Tirano.

In the snaps, shared by the restaurant’s Instagram page, a refreshed Ronaldo is seen greeting the shocked owner with a smile, before embracing her for a snap.

The snap was captioned: ‘As you know I rarely take or post photos with clients

‘BUT SORRY THIS IS MY IDOL.’

In Portugal, lockdown restrictions have been eased over the last three weeks with schools, restaurants, cinemas and cafes reopening.

However by posing for the snap, Ronaldo was flouting the physical distance rules, which warns people to stay 2m away from each other.

Portugal has made it mandatory to wear face masks when in indoor public spaces, except at restaurant and bar tables once customers have sat down- with Ronaldo seen clutching one in his hand in the snap.

Current government advice also warns against all but essential travel. Returning home -as Ronaldo is doing – falls into this bracket.

The restaurant is one of the football icon’s favourites, in 2017 he paid a visit with his eldest son Cristiano Jr.

The star did not document his visit on social media but took to Instagram on Tuesday to celebrate the anniversary of Portugal’s Nations League victory.

The couple then took a peek at work on the footballer’s new mansion.

Georgina, 26, also shared a stunning snap nearby Quinta da Marinha while clad in a white tee and high-waisted pinstripe trousers.

Quinta da Marinha is one of Portugal’s most prestigious residential areas, where Ronaldo is reportedly building a new mansion.

She captioned the sunny snap ‘boa tarde’ (Good afternoon) prompting Cristiano’s sister Katia to reply: ‘Hummmm’ followed by a heart emoticon and thumbs-up.

Dad-of-four Cristiano has reportedly splashed out more than £7million on a large plot of land in Quinta da Marinha on the so-called Portuguese Riviera, according to Portuguese media.

Work has just started on the mansion respected Portuguese daily Correio da Manha says will be the latest addition to the football star’s property empire.

It says the star plans to use the house as an investment, although popular magazine TV 7 Dias claimed he planned to use it as a family home after his retirement.

A source described as a future neighbour has told the magazine: ‘The land was fenced off recently and it was purchased by Ronaldo.

‘This is where he’s coming to live with his family when he finishes his career.

‘Everyone round here knows it and of course we’re happy. Ronaldo is Ronaldo.’

Quinta da Marinha is half an hour from Lisbon Airport and ten minutes from the centre of the coastal town of Cascais, the Lisbon coastline’s premier holiday destination.

The affluent coastal region, centred on Cascais, Estoril and Sintra, is known as the Portuguese Riviera.

Cristiano and Georgina made their flying visit to Portugal at the weekend and are now back in Italy.

They are understood to have jetted to Portugal on the footballer’s private jet after celebrating twins’ Eva and Mateo’s third birthday last Friday.

It was Cristiano’s first trip back to his homeland since the start of May when he left Madeira following nearly two months on his native island during the coronavirus lockdown as his doting mum Dolores recovered from her March 3 stroke.

The star couple are believed to have flown to Portugal from Italy on the same Gulfstream G200 Galaxy they used to reach and leave Madeira with their children.

Cristiano’s property empire also includes a seven-storey apartment block overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Madeiran capital Funchal which he purchased last year.

His mum Dolores, 65, and older brother Hugo and his family live at the property.

The former Man U and Real Madrid striker spent time there with Georgina and four children during his recent stay in Madeira.

He later moved to a £3,500-a-week rented villa before jetting back to Italy on May 4.

Last December Portuguese media identified Cristiano as the mystery buyer of Portugal’s most expensive apartment.

The Portuguese captain is said to have beaten off bids from two other millionaires to snap up the 3,100 square foot flat in the Avenida da Liberdade area of central Lisbon.

Cristiano also owns a £4.8million mansion on a gated fortress estate called La Finca near Madrid where Welshman Gareth Bale also lives.

He showed off the house in a video released in December 2015, treating fans to a tour of his bedroom, living room, dining room and garden and wishing people a Merry Christmas.

Before splashing out on his expensive Lisbon apartment, he sold a mansion for £2million to his former Real Madrid team-mate Pepe in Geres in northern Portugal.

He is said to have used the money from that sale to buy his Funchal apartment block.

MailOnline has contacted Ronaldo’s representatives for comment.

Georgina and Cristiano have remained behind closed doors with their family – Cristiano Jr, Ronaldo’s twins Eva and Mateo, three, and their daughter Alana, two,  after relocating from Portugal to Turin in northern Italy.

The twins were carried by a surrogate, while his eldest’s maternity is a mystery.

Georgina is the biological mother of Alana.

The couple met in 2016, and there have been rumours that the couple secretly married, but the pair have not confirmed.

The family inititally stayed at his home in Madeira in an effort to avoid contracting the virus, having seen three of his team-mates in Daniele Rugani, Paulo Dybala and Blaise Matuidi among the first Serie A players to test positive for Covid-19.

They returned to Turin at the start of May and were required to spend 14 days at home in self-isolation as per government rules for international arrivals.

It was previously announced that clubs in Italy were allowed to return to team training on May 18 – but matches remain some way off following a government decree banning sporting events until June 15.
