The film’s plot centers around the duo having to live up to their as-yet-unfulfilled potential as the world’s unlikely saviors.

The trailer begins with The Great Leader (played by Holland Taylor) admonishing the pair for having once played a concert for ‘the entire world’ but since underwhelming with their attempts to unite Earth through music.

‘One month ago, you played in Barstow, California for forty people, most of whom were there for two dollar Taco Night.’

‘Bill and Ted,’ she demands, while flanked by other floating members of the council, ‘what have you got to say for yourselves?’

The perennial slackers then break out their catchphrases, expecting to impress: ‘Be excellent to each other,’ intones Bill, while Ted adds, ‘And party on.’

However the council are apparently unmoved by their words.
