Big Brother Australia producer reveals there will be a SHOCKING finale twist

Big Brother producer reveals there will be a SHOCKING finale twist – and promises a ‘curve ball’ when the $250,000 cash prize winner is announced

Fans have waited almost 20 years for Big Brother to return to Australian screens.

Launching on Monday with a reboot far from its original format, it appears Channel Seven’s revamped version has many more surprises to come.

During an interview with TV Tonight, the show’s executive producer, Amelia Fisk, has hinted at a major twist in the live finale.

Due to occur in late July, host Sonia Kruger has already confirmed the public will decide the winner from three finalists at the live finale.

‘The aim is to get $250,000. That’s the prize money. I’m not going to reveal anything more, but there might be a curve ball at the end of the series,’ the executive producer cryptically hinted.

The shock twist may be that housemates choose to split or steal the cash like in Love Island, or have money taken away from them during the show for breaking the rules as seen in previous Big Brother seasons.

Frisk admitted that she was inspired by the Canadian and US Big Brother shows, which share the Survivor-style challenges and pre-recorded format.

Host Sonia Kruger previously said rules viewers are most familiar with have been completely thrown out the window.

Speaking to KIIS FM’s Kyle And Jackie O show last week, she revealed the major changes made to the beloved reality TV show.

With public voting axed, Sonia said it will now be the housemates voting on who leaves each episode.

'It's open slather!' Sonia said housemates are now allowed to talk about voting strategies and form eviction alliances, as one housemate is evicted EVERY night on the show by their rivals

In the past, housemates were banned from discussing evictions and voting, but Sonia says it is now ‘open slather’ for them to discuss game plans and strategic alliances – much like Survivor.

Sonia also confirmed that there will be an eviction every night, and that the series would air three nights a week until late July.

‘Australia decides who will be the ultimate winner,’ she said, adding there would be three people at the grand finale to choose from.

A few rules have been leaked ahead of the premiere, including that day-time naps are banned, housemates are only allowed to use hot water for showers during a one-hour block per day, and they must do all of their own cooking, cleaning and laundry.

Seven executives are hoping the rebooted series is a ratings smash after spending millions on rights to the Big Brother name and format.
