Tia Mowry reflects on growing up biracial and how her mother faced racial profiling while her father experienced privilege

With protests against police brutality and racism being waged across many of the big cities in the US over the last 10 days, actress Tia Mowry is opening up about growing up biracial and the racial-profiling her mother faced.

The Sister, Sister star took to Instagram on Thursday and shared a photo of herself posing with her twin sister, Tamera, and their mother Darlene Mowry.

‘This is a photo of my beautiful mother. Growing up #biracial, mom is black and dad is white, it was very clear to me seeing the #privilege that my dad had as opposed to my #mother,’ she began in the moving caption.

‘My mother walked in the house model with us asking for a brochure. A person had said the houses were sold out,’ she wrote.

‘My dad walked in and it was a different story.’

Mowry ended her lengthy statement by sharing her ultimate goal: ‘change.’
