Penny Lancaster has revealed her husband Rod Stewart was jealous of her dancing with another man on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former model, 49, took part in the fifth series of the BBC show in 2007 and was partnered up with dancer Ian Waite.

The pair made it to the sixth round before they were voted off, but not before Penny’s rocker husband made his feelings known.

Teaming up again with Ian on Wednesday, Penny spoke about her ballroom experience as part of his Fitsteps show on Facebook Live.

The Loose Women star said: ‘The funniest thing is, my husband said “it’s fantastic, you’re going to go on and do Strictly, that’s brilliant, your wildest dream. Go for it girl”.

‘But then he was like, “who are you dancing with?”‘

‘I said, “‘it’s Ian and he said “oh that’s fine then!”‘

‘She’s spending five to six hours a day with another man. But of course he loved you and send his best wishes.’

‘They have not invented the words for how I feel about her. She is everything.’

He went on to say that she helped him understand the importance of a long and happy marriage, as he admitted: ‘It took me a while to learn, because I have been a scallywag in the past.’

Rod explained that being with Penny made him learn ‘good manners’ which he also tries to instil on his children, while he feels he helped her gain ‘a lot of confidence’ during the course of their relationship.

Penny and Rod began dating in 1999 before marrying eight years later in the medieval monastery La Cervara in Portofino.
