Police are searching a ‘suspicious’ car and have arrested the driver after it ‘collided with two pedestrians’ in an upmarket area of London.

Officers were called to Sloane Square in the west of the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

Scotland Yard said: ‘Police are on scene in Sloane Square, SW1 where they are dealing with a vehicle which has collided with two people.

‘We await a condition update. The car was found abandoned.

‘Cordons were put in place and buildings in the surrounding area were evacuated as a precaution while officers searched the vehicle.

‘A man was subsequently arrested arrested for driving offences. Further details await. Enquiries continue.’
