Sonia Kruger reveals EVERYTHING you need to know about the revamped Big Brother

Channel Seven is launching its revamped Big Brother series on Monday with a shock new format.

And host Sonia Kruger says rules viewers are most familiar with have been completely thrown out the window.

Speaking to KIIS FM’s Kyle And Jackie O show on Wednesday, she revealed the major changes made to the beloved reality TV show.

The biggest rules to be altered center around game play, with producers adding a more strategic element to the competition.

‘In the past, Australia would decide who to evict and all the interesting people would go,’ she joked, adding: ‘so now there are these epic nomination challenges where [housemates] compete to win the right to nominate three people in the house.’

With public voting axed, Sonia said it will now be the housemates voting on who leaves each episode.

'It's open slather!' Sonia said housemates are now allowed to talk about voting strategies and form eviction alliances, as one housemate is evicted EVERY night on the show by their rivals

This will make things very uncomfortable for challenge winners when their rivals know who have put them up for eviction.

In the past, housemates were banned from discussing evictions and voting, but Sonia says it is now ‘open slather’ for them to discuss game plans and strategic alliances – much like Survivor.

Sonia also confirmed that there will be an eviction every night, and that the series would air three nights a week until late July.

‘Australia decides who will be the ultimate winner,’ she said, adding there would be three people at the grand finale to choose from.

A teaser trailer this week also introduced a new rule, that ‘Housemates must do their own washing, cleaning and recycling in the house.’

Make it quick! There have even been water saving methods implemented, including using rainwater toilets and limiting the housemates' shower times

Speaking to WHO magazine last month, Sonia said the show needed a contemporary update from what fans remembered 20 years ago.

‘Twenty years ago we would watch a housemate make a sandwich in the kitchen, and we thought that was amazing. But times have changed and our viewing habits have become more sophisticated,’ she explained.

‘We [the public] want an outcome every episode. We want a really strong hook for the next night, and this series has got all of that in spades.’

The Big Brother house has 65 cameras, including GoPros and purpose built set cameras.

The property also features sustainable plantation timber and LED lighting, which have been re-purposed from other sets to reduce energy consumption.

There have even been water saving methods implemented, including using rainwater toilets and limiting the housemates’ shower times.

Seven executives are hoping the rebooted series is a ratings smash after spending millions on rights to the Big Brother name and format.
