Coming soon: L.J. Smith, the novelist behind The Vampire Diaries has optioned her triology The Forbidden Game to Berlanti Productions and WBTV

The Forbidden Game trilogy was published in 1994 by the New York Times Bestselling author, and consisted of the three books The Hunter, The Chase, and The Kill.

Each of the YA novels follow a teen girl named Jenny and her group of friends as they enter a horrifying game, similar to Jumanji.

They are dropped into different worlds and are forced to take on their worst nightmares with the risk of death or being trapped in the game forever.

WBTV previously produced Smith’s book series The Vampire Diaries from 2009 until 2017 on the CW.
