‘It’s made a huge difference’: Lincoln Lewis’ sister Jamie-Lee reveals how a double cochlear implant changed her life

Lincoln Lewis’ sister Jamie-Lee has revealed how a double cochlear implant changed her life.

Speaking on Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition on Monday, the sports star, 30, who was born profoundly deaf, said the implant gave her the opportunity to hear her parent’s speak for the first time.

‘It’s made a huge difference. Even being able to hear mum and dad say “I love you”. It’s those little things that make a massive difference,’ she said.

‘But another thing is that I have an advantage in that I can turn myself off whenever I want to,’ she joked.

Jamie also revealed she is raising funds to help deaf kids for Hear and Say Giving Day on Thursday.

Lincoln went on to praise his sister for being such a strong person and said she’s an inspiration.

‘Jamie-Lee has always been the biggest inspiration because no matter what she gets thrown her way, she always persists no matter what,’ he said.

‘Ever since she was a kid, she said, her five favourite words: “Never, never, never give up”,’ he added.

Their interview comes after Lincoln recently revealed he was so keen to reprise his role of Geoff Campbell on Home and Away, that he asked producers for his job back.

Lincoln made the admission during a interview with Neighbours star Takaya Honda on his Tak Talks YouTube series in April.

‘I actually pitched a storyline for the Home and Away producers at the start of the year about reprising Geoff, but they ghosted me!’ he said.

He continued: ‘But it is what it is. That’s the industry. That’s just like going for an audition. You don’t hear back. That’s the way it goes.’
