Kyle Sandilands debunks claims The Voice coach Delta Goodrem is being paid $2million

Radio host Kyle Sandilands has disputed claims his friend Delta Goodrem is being paid $2million as a coach on The Voice Australia.

On Monday, New Idea reported that Delta was earning more than double what her follow judges were getting.

But Kyle, who has previously served as a judge on Australian Idol, Australia’s Got Talent and The X Factor, disputed this seven-figure salary on his KIIS FM breakfast show on Tuesday.

‘So Delta Goodrem is the highest-paid person on Australian television on any show on any channel? That’s not right,’ he said.

‘I can tell you now – and I love Delta – she’s not getting $2million a year from The Voice. They just don’t have that budget for it.’

Kyle added that Delta, 35, certainly wouldn’t be earning more than an international judge like Kelly Rowland.

‘They would not be paying her more than they’d be forking out for others. It’s just not true,’ he said.

‘Kelly and [Boy] George would be on the most amount of money. That’s just the way it is. They have to leave their country. She is from Destiny’s Child.’

The shock jock said that the pay disparity in New Idea’s figures was beyond belief.

‘That’s just not on!’ he said, referencing the magazine’s claim that Delta was earning more than twice Guy Sebastian’s salary.

He said the ‘idiots’ at New Idea don’t know how television works, adding that you don’t just get pay rises every year.

It comes after the tabloid claimed Delta was the highest-paid judge with a whopping $2million paycheck.

She commands this figure, the publication alleged, because of her long tenure on the show, having appeared in eight out of its nine seasons.

Guy, who has returned for his second stint on The Voice this year, was said to be earning $750,000 this time around, while George and Kelly were reportedly being paid $500,000 plus expenses, accommodation and first-class airfares.

Kelly lives at a five-star hotel in Sydney’s eastern suburbs during filming, while Boy George stays at a $27,000-per-month mansion in Centennial Park.

George and Kelly have been coaches since 2017.

Meanwhile, hosts Darren McMullen and Renee Bargh were said to be receiving about $250,000 each.

Last month, New Idea reported that staff working on The Voice may be forced to take pay cuts due to the coronavirus recession.

Guy has denied these rumours, however, telling The Kyle and Jackie O Show: ‘There are no pay cuts or not that I know of.

‘I think they are still paying us which is very nice. [Otherwise] I have got no idea.’
