Grant Hackett and his fiancée Sharlene Fletcher are the latest celebrities to have their wedding plans disrupted amid coronavirus.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, the 40-year-old Olympic swimming legend revealed the pandemic has forced the couple to postpone their upcoming nuptials.

Grant said they pair had intended to hold a big wedding this year, but now they’re working on a new date in 2021.

‘We just really want to have the same last name,’ the former athlete said.

Grant also hinted that couple may legally get married before the actual wedding celebrations. 

‘COVID could go on forever, and ever so we’ve got the forms – but we haven’t set a date,’ he said.

The couple planned to tie the knot with a big wedding in September, but the recent pandemic has forced them to delay the party until 2021.

Grant has two other children, twins Charlize Alley and Jagger Emilio, 11, from his previous relationship with Neighbours star, Candice Alley.

‘So happy and excited to call this beautiful, amazing, kind and supportive soul my fiancée,’ wrote Grant to his Instagram followers.

‘Life has certainly had its moments where your spirit is tested to its full will. However, I have to say, sharing and creating life with [Sharlene],’ he concluded.
