A woman in her 70s is fighting for her life after a horrific double-stabbing in a ‘domestic incident’ at a north London home this evening. 

A man, also in his 70s, also suffered stab injuries in the incident in Islington, with police awaiting an update on his condition. 

No arrests have been made and road closures remain in place in the area. 

Shocked neighbours piled into the street, with several police cars and ambulances rushing to the road.

Islington Police reported: ‘Police were called by LAS at 20:24hrs on Wednesday, 27 May, to an incident at a residential address in Southgate Road, #N1.Officers attended.

‘Two people – a man and a woman, both believed to be aged in their 70s – were found with stab injuries.

‘They have both been taken to hospital; the woman’s injuries are believed to be life-threatening. A condition update for the man awaits. There have been no arrests.

‘At this very early stage, the matter is being treated as a domestic incident with no other persons believed involved. 

‘However extensive inquiries into the circumstances continue. A crime scene & road closures are in place.’
